Frequently Asked Questions
About GoodForm
What exactly does GoodForm do?
GoodForm™ is a design and operations firm built for consumer brands. We combine strategic design consulting with purpose-built software to help brands create stronger products, organize the information behind them, and bring them to market with greater clarity. Our two core offerings are the Shelf-Ready System™, our design consulting service for building shelf-ready brands, and SameSource™, our SaaS platform for organizing and managing product, packaging, SKU, and brand information.
How does GoodForm combine design and software?
GoodForm™ connects the creative work that shapes how a brand shows up with the operational tools that help teams manage what happens behind it. Through the Shelf-Ready System™, we design the brand, packaging, and go-to-market foundation, while SameSource™ gives teams a structured workspace to manage product, packaging, SKU, and brand information as they grow. Together, they create a more connected system for building and operating consumer brands.
Our System & Software
What is the Shelf-Ready System?
The Shelf-Ready System™ is GoodForm™’s comprehensive design consulting service for consumer brands preparing to launch, reposition, or scale. It connects four key stages: Brand Foundation, Packaging Design, SameSource™ SKU Hub, and Go-to-Market Strategy, to build the creative and operational foundation needed to move from concept to shelf with clarity. The system is available in three progressive tiers: Foundation, Structure, and Shelf-Ready, so brands can choose the level of support that best fits their needs and stage of growth.
What does the Go-to-Market Strategy include?
The Go-to-Market Strategy stage of the Shelf-Ready System™ organizes and plans how your brand will show up visually in the market, from retail and digital shelves to trade shows, buyer presentations, brand activations, and digital campaigns. Depending on your needs, this can include product line strategy, retail and digital shelf design, buyer pitch decks, trade show and activation creative, and digital campaign assets. Together, these tools help create buyer and partner opportunities, connect with consumers, drive conversion, and make a meaningful market impact.
What is SameSource?
SameSource™ is GoodForm™’s SaaS platform built to give consumer brands one source of truth for their products and SKUs. Available as a monthly subscription workspace for your company, it centralizes product, packaging, SKU, brand, and vendor information in one structured place, replacing scattered spreadsheets, folders, and emails with information that is easier to find, manage, and share. Teams can stay aligned internally while giving external partners controlled access to only the information they need, helping reduce confusion and keep everyone working from the same source.
Is SameSource only available through the Shelf-Ready System™?
SameSource™ is available both as part of select Shelf-Ready System™ plans and as a standalone SaaS subscription. Within the Shelf-Ready System, SameSource works alongside brand strategy, packaging design, and GTM support as part of a broader engagement, with a discounted SameSource subscription rate included in eligible plans. Brands that only need the software can subscribe to SameSource directly at the standard rate, without engaging in the Shelf-Ready System.
How GoodForm Supports Your Brand
What stage should my company be in to work with GoodForm?
GoodForm™ works with consumer brands at different stages. Early-stage companies often come to us with a clear product and brand direction, looking to establish a solid foundation through branding, packaging, and the right systems from the start. The earlier that structure is in place, the better prepared the brand is as products, SKUs, and teams expand. More established companies often come to us for stronger structure as they grow, a brand refresh that reconnects with their audience or reaches a new one, product line expansion, or better product information management. As product lines grow and SKUs become harder to manage, having the brand and operations connected through one source of truth becomes increasingly important.
Do I need to have a product already developed?
Not necessarily, but you should have a defined product concept and a clear plan to bring it to market. GoodForm™ can work with products that are still being finalized, prototyped, or prepared for production, but the Shelf-Ready System™ is designed to build the brand, packaging, product structure, and go-to-market foundation around an established product direction. It is best suited for founders and teams who are ready to move from product development into building the systems needed to launch and scale.
What if I already have a brand or packaging?
That’s completely fine. GoodForm™ can work with your existing brand, packaging, or product line rather than starting over. We evaluate what is already working, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and focus the Shelf-Ready System™ on the areas that need to be refined, expanded, or better structured. We aim to create a more cohesive brand and product system that makes a stronger market impact and connects more effectively with consumers.
Why work with GoodForm if we already have a design team?
GoodForm™ complements your in-house design team rather than replacing it. While internal designers are often focused on the day-to-day creative needs of the business, GoodForm focuses on creating the foundation and structure that help the brand operate cohesively as it grows. Through the Shelf-Ready System™, we build and refine the brand and packaging, establish product-line strategy, and provide operational tools that connect creative work with the product information behind it. This gives your designers clearer direction and a stronger framework to work from, while giving the company a more consistent and adaptable brand system that can support new products, SKUs, packaging formats, and evolving business needs.
Why use SameSource if our team already manages our SKUs?
Robust ERP systems are essential for core operational needs like purchasing, inventory, orders, and supply chain management, but they are not always practical or accessible for design, marketing, vendors, and other partners who also rely on product information. Without a shared space connecting these teams, important details often end up scattered across spreadsheets, folders, emails, and files, creating multiple sources of information around the same product.
SameSource™ fills that gap with a streamlined, visual workspace that brings product, packaging, SKU, brand, vendor, and asset information together in one accessible source of truth. It connects design, marketing, operations, supply chain, and external vendors, while also helping clarify critical specifications and details needed for manufacturing, sourcing, and purchase orders. With controlled sharing and on-the-go access, SameSource gives everyone a simpler way to find and communicate the information they need, while your ERP continues handling the core operational functions it was built for.
Can I work with GoodForm for individual design services?
GoodForm™ works through the Shelf-Ready System™ rather than offering standalone à la carte design services. Our most focused engagement, the Foundation tier, combines Brand Foundation and Packaging Design into one cohesive system for building or redesigning a product line, rather than isolated deliverables like a logo, single box design, label, or one-off brand asset. Brands with a single product are still a great fit when the goal is to develop the complete brand and packaging system around that product. From there, Structure adds SameSource™ for product and SKU management, while Shelf-Ready adds Go-to-Market Strategy to plan how the brand visually shows up across digital, print, retail, events, and activations.
Value & Investment
Why does the Shelf-Ready System include operations?
Because a strong consumer brand needs more than what customers see. The Shelf-Ready System™ connects brand and packaging design with the product structure and information needed behind the scenes, including SKU and packaging specifications, vendor information, and supporting brand assets. SameSource™ brings that information together in one shared workspace, connecting design with operations and keeping teams aligned. This helps ensure that what is designed can also be accurately documented, communicated, sourced, managed, and revised as products move toward market.
Why is GoodForm a smart investment, and what should I expect to spend?
GoodForm™ is an investment in getting things right earlier and avoiding costly mistakes as your brand grows. Something as simple as grabbing outdated packaging dimensions from the wrong email chain can lead to an incorrect print run, costing hundreds or thousands of dollars before a product even reaches market, with costs increasing significantly if errors reach production or retail.
The Shelf-Ready System™ helps reduce these risks by creating a stronger brand and packaging foundation, with clear specs and structure that help teams make more informed decisions as products and SKUs evolve. SameSource™ adds another layer of protection by keeping critical product, packaging, and vendor information in one reliable source, reducing the chance of teams working from outdated information. Investment varies by project scope or subscription plan, but a single costly mistake can easily exceed the cost of putting the right systems in place, with every avoided mistake adding to the value over time. Consider one $5,000 mistake: that alone can cost more than an entire year of our most popular SameSource subscription.
Process & Next Steps
How long does the Shelf-Ready System take?
The timeline for the Shelf-Ready System™ depends on the tier selected, project scope, and complexity of the product line. Smaller, focused engagements can take a few weeks to a month, while larger, more comprehensive projects may span 12–16 weeks.
If you have more immediate needs, we can prioritize key deliverables and release them progressively as they are completed, rather than rushing the entire engagement. We’ll build a project calendar together around your priorities, so essential brand, packaging, or marketing materials can be put to use sooner while the remaining work continues. This gives your team the benefit of a faster, practical rollout without compromising the thought and quality behind the complete system.
What happens after the Shelf-Ready System is complete?
You’ll leave the Shelf-Ready System™ with a cohesive brand, packaging, and product system built to be carried forward by your team. Comprehensive brand guidelines and a complete suite of brand, packaging, and marketing assets give your design team the tools to maintain and build upon the brand consistently. SameSource™ becomes an ongoing tool for product and SKU management, giving teams such as design, operations, and supply chain one shared workspace to stay aligned, while the Go-to-Market Strategy guides how the brand shows up across retail, digital, print, events, and activations. The result is a connected system your team can continue to use, manage, and build upon.
